    Time to look at changing bad light rules, if umpires say you can't bowl a player because of light then you go off. Simple. Yesterday at Durham doesn't happen in this situation and County Cricket doesn't look as farcical as it did this morning.

    Gloucestershire are entitled to bowl who they want, when they want. If Durham wanted to finish a day earlier they should have bowled better. Didn't England put on their part-time bowlers against India last year in that drawn test match? Can't have different rules for some.

    Calvin Harrison continued to go for his shots - and it costs him his wicket against fellow leg-spinner Matt Parkinson.

    It's Parkinson's first delivery of the day, in fact, and Harrison tries to sweep him - but misses the flighted ball and it strikes him on the pads.

    Nathan McSweeney is on his way to replace Harrison at the crease.

    Almost a second wicket in the over for Olly Stone as a Dan Mousley outside edge bounces just in front of Jack Haynes at third slip.

    The former England quick looks in red-hot late-season form following his 10-wicket match haul at The Oval last week.

    That was a 27th Championship wicket of the campaign.

    Calvin Harrison has started to go for his shots after a slow start and he pummels Keith Dudgeon for four before aiming a hook at the Kent seamer a few balls later.

    Although Harrison fails to connect, the ball beats Chris Benjamin as well and rolls for four byes to move this second-wicket partnership between Harrison and Ricardo Vasconcelos beyond 50.

    If Gloucs had issues with the umpires, surely they take that up with the match referee? Sadly they've made themselves look very petty and petulant. In all honesty, it didn't matter to them if they lost last night

    Re: Gloucestershire points deduction. No, they shouldn't be docked points as they're stone dead last anyway. They should be made to pay however much it cost Durham to open the ground today for 105 seconds worth of play

    Rob Yates decides to play no shot to a full straight ball from Olly Stone which clips the knee roll of the back pad bang in front.

    The pacer has appealed three times to umpire Martin Saggers and it's third time lucky. An odd decision to leave.

    Tom Abell top-scored with 72 in Somerset's first innings, but he's taken a while to get off the mark this time, scampering a single off Jaydev Unadkat.

    Henry Nicholls has 24 and the visitors now lead by 155. But they're understandably cautious about trying to step up the pace - a couple of quick wickets would certainly raise Sussex's hopes of a very gettable afternoon run-chase.

    Middlesex's Tom Helm has taken two in two balls, having Anuj Dal (2) caught behind and then trapping Shoaib Bashir lbw for a golden duck.

    101-9 in the 41st over. Six wickets in eight overs this morning and maximum bowling points for the visitors.

    Rob Yates mistimes a cut at Olly Stone and so nearly chops on to his stumps.

    Dillon Pennington has also beaten Will Young's outside edge a few times - early hope for the bowlers.

    Josh Blake tries a cut shot off Simon Harmer but edges behind to the wicketkeeper and the Surrey man departs for 14 with his side still 23 behind.

    Three wickets for Harmer in this innings now.

    It's all about a balancing act for Northamptonshire today - trying to glean as many batting bonus points as they can while denying Kent bowling points of their own.

    So far, the home side are just over halfway to their first target of 250, with Ricardo Vasconcelos going along nicely on 77.

    The opener had a slice of good fortune just now, however, inside edging Ekansh Singh narrowly over his stumps.

    What if Gloucestershire had been bottom of Division 1 and were scrapping for points to avoid relegation? Would people have blamed them then if they were hoping for a day 4 washout instead of co-operating on an early finish? I'm not comfortable with this pile-on against Gloucestershire.
