Looks like Sri Lanka are sizing everything up at the moment.

They don't want to leave it too late today. They need to capitalise and set their stall out early.

Chipped... just short of mid-on! Sam Curran almost strikes with a slower ball but considering his recent struggles, he'll be delighted to start with a maiden.

Sri Lanka end their powerplay not too far away from England's - they were 62-0 at the same stage.

    Sam Curran replaces Sonny Baker.

He conceded 103 off nine overs in last week's run-fest...

  4. SL 55-1published at 9 overs

    Target 387

    Oh, a stunner.

Back-to-back fours from Avishka Fernando, the first is a little lucky as he miscues the ball just past Ben Duckett at mid-wicket.

The second is a cover drive straight out of the coaching manual. Sri Lanka are going along pretty nicely here.

A wonderful shot down the ground from Kusal Mendis.

No wonder Harry Brook is talking to Baker about his plans.

    Target 387

Well, Kusal Mendis' new bat seems to have done the trick!

He thumps Sonny Baker down the ground for another six, and that's the big over they were searching for. 18 from it.

Having been two off 10, Kusal now has 24 off 17.

The ball before was full and straight, so this one Sonny Baker tried to adjust and he just got it too short.

  8. 6 runs

    SL 39-1published at 7.2 overs

    All the way this time!

Too short from Baker and Kusal Mendis picks up the length so quickly to pull it over square leg.

  9. SL 33-1published at 7.1 overs

    He's woken up now!

Slammed past Sonny Baker and all the way down the ground for four more.

  10. SL 29-1published at 7 overs

    Target 387

Finally, Kusal Mendis gets one out of the middle! Short from Atkinson, and he bangs it firmly to the ropes.

He'd been scratching around, and got a bit unlucky with the previous ball as a well-timed drive struck his batting partner at the other end.

  11. SL 22-1published at 6 overs

    Target 387

A productive over for Sri Lanka, and they needed it.

Avishka Fernando plays another stunning one-legged flick for four off Sonny Baker. It pings to the boundary just in front of square.

Baker then overcompensates, goes a bit too full and Avishka clips that away too.

  12. SL 14-1published at 5 overs

    Target 387

Gus Atkinson whizzes through a maiden and it's a bit of a scratchy start for Kusal Mendis at the moment.

Joe Root found it very amusing. That was a clean break!

  14. SL 14-1published at 4.4 overs

Maybe it's Kusal Mendis' bats that are the problem.

He plays a straightforward defensive shot against Gus Atkinson, and his bat literally snaps off the handle. If that had landed on the stumps...

Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis is in at three.

He was run out at the non-striker's end without facing a ball in his team's chase of 430, so he'll feel very relieved to get off the mark with his first ball here.

Great start from Sonny Baker, though.

Sonny Baker produces some magical balls.

This one on the angle goes between bat and pad. Kamindu Mendis is looking to defend the ball, and it beats him with a little bit of pace.

A bit of relief for Baker for dropping that catch early in the innings.

    And he strikes!

Full, straight and fast does the trick for Sonny Baker and he leaps in celebration as Kamindu Mendis is cleaned up for just four.

  18. How's stat?!published at 12:39 GMT

Sonny Baker has found 1.2° of swing in the powerplay in this tri-series - twice as much as any other English seamer, but still comfortably behind seamers from the other two sides (Shaheen, Razaullah, Asitha, Madushanka and Naseem).

  19. SL 11-0published at 3.2 overs

Sonny Baker will bowl his second over and has the chance to make amends...

Sonny Baker got there and Ben Duckett said 'good effort'. Baker has his hands on his hips, and he knew that was an opportunity to get the first wicket.
