    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

It's head tennis inside the Aberdeen penalty box following a corner, but the home side eventually manage to hook it clear - and breathe again.

  2. One-dimensional Dons?published at 12:30 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Mark Reynolds
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

There's just no penetration from Aberdeen for me. A lot of passing side to side. The only thing they've got is that long ball.

Robinson is building this Aberdeen team in the same mould as his St Mirren team. Large, athletic, hard-tackling, massive foot soldiers.

  4. Rangers allowed into groovepublished at 12:29 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Derek Ferguson
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

I thought Aberdeen would go right at Rangers, but they've let Rangers get into a groove and they're comfortable at the minute.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

So close to a Rangers opener.

Djeidi Gassama gathers the ball on the edge of the penalty box, makes room for himself and the winger's low drive looks to be heading for goal before taking a deflection wide.

  6. The devil in Devlinpublished at 12:26 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Derek Ferguson
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

It's been pretty good in the past five minutes from Rangers. Devlin is disrupting play. That's what he's in there to do.

  7. Postpublished at 23mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Rangers fire a couple of dangerous balls into the Dons penalty box.

It eventually bobbles to James Penrice, but the left-back's low drive is well wide of the far post from the edge of the penalty box.

  8. Rangers improve on 'worst-ever' displaypublished at 12:23 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Derek Ferguson
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

I described Thursday's performance as the worst Rangers performance I'd ever seen - and I wasn't kidding.

They had a shaky start, but this is better than I was expecting. At least they are showing a bit of movement.

  9. Postpublished at 18mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Some neat passing by Rangers around the Dons penalty box and Kim Min-su has a sight at goal.

However, the new signing screws his shot well wide.

  10. Postpublished at 12mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Aberdeen pounce on a loose pass, not the first, from Emmanuel Fernandez.

Mitchy Ntelo jinks to the byeline, but the forward's cross is way too high and a good chance is gone.

  11. Postpublished at 11mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Findlay Curtis is next to have a sight at goal as the Rangers winger emerges from a sea of Aberdeen legs with the ball at his feet.

However, his shot from the edge of the penalty box is a foot or so over the crossbar.

  12. Kim makes early impressionpublished at 12:11 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Derek Ferguson
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Kim shows good strength there. What I like about him as well, he's prepared to run. You need runners going beyond the striker.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Kim Mun-su already shows his threat as the former Girona winger fires a long-range effort at goal.

However, it is straight at goalkeeper Marius Müller.

  14. YELLOW CARD Happe (Aberdeen)published at 12:09 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

Aberdeen defender Dan Happe will spend the rest of the game walking a bit of a tightrope after that early booking.

If you are Rangers now, you will think "run at him".

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 4mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Findlay Curtis goes down in the penalty box under a challenge from Kevin Nisbet.

However, the officials obviously think the winger went down too easily.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

A glorious day at Pittodrie with the sun splitting the skies, the pitch is looking great and there is a crackling atmosphere at the old ground.

    What is not to like?

  17. Postpublished at 2mins

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Toyosi Olusanya overpowers centre-half Emmanual Fernandez as the Dons striker chases a long ball.

He finds partner Mitchy Ntelo in plenty of place, but the low shot is easy for the visiting goalkeeper.

  18. 'Woeful marking'published at 12:04 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Derek Ferguson
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Quite alarming, that. Happe just pulls away unmarked. The marking from Rangers is absolutely woeful there.

  19. Postpublished at 1min

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

    Great chance for Aberdeen immediately.

Rangers give away a needless free-kick and Dan Happe ghosts in at the back post.

However, the big centre-half's half-volley is wastefully fired into the stand.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:01 BST

    Aberdeen 0-0 Rangers

Aberdeen get the game under way, their traditional all red glowing in the northern sunshine.
