Despite being arguably the best British driver ever, Moss was never to win the World Championship.

A crash in 1962 led to his retirement a year later, after private testing confirmed his fears that his reflexes were impaired.

But he has continued his involvement in the sport and was rewarded with a knighthood in 2000.
