Athens attack

She entered the 2004 Athens Olympics in top form but full of caution and unsure whether she would run in both the 800m and 1500m.

In her last Olympics she decided to go for both and pulled off a truly stunning victory in the 800m leaving Mutola trailing.

An emotional Holmes was drained afterwards but thrilled that years of pain had been worth it.
