The Blues returned to the elite in 1984 and enjoyed a couple of good seasons thanks in part to the goals of prolific hitman Kerry Dixon.

A drop back down to the Second Division 1988 proved to be only a minor blip as Chelsea still dreamed of re-establishing themselves as a major force in English football.
