The following season, Mansell moved from Formula One to IndyCar and became the first driver to win back-to-back championships in both sports.

He returned to F1 in 1994, but a fall-out with McLaren, a year later, led to his retirement.

Mansell remains involved in motorsport and still races from time to time.
