Pat Eddery

DOB: 18.03.1952
Main trainers: John Dunlop, Roger Charlton
Royal Ascot wins: 73

Despite reaching the age of 50, Irishman Pat Eddery remains one of the leading Flat jockeys.

The triple Epsom Derby winner has secured 11 champion jockey titles in his career, a record he holds with Lester Piggott.

Eddery had his first success in the UK when Alvao obliged at Epsom in April 1969.

Now a freelance, he has ridden more than 4,000 winners and has landed virtually every major Flat race in Europe.

His 72 wins at Royal Ascot up to the start of the 2002 meeting dwarfed the record of any other current rider.

And Eddery hit another momentous milestone with his 73rd victory on Royal Liason in the Queen Mary Stakes.

It was win number 4,493 of his career, which puts him level with Lester Piggott with the second highest number of career victories by any jockey.
