Gordon Brown has said he understands that parents mourning the loss of their children killed in Afghanistan have questions they need to ask about what happened to them.
Speaking to Today presenter Evan Davis after the row about his letter of condolence to Jacqui Janes, Mr Brown said the criticism of him was nothing compared with the pain of grieving families.
