I'm a Buddhist. At our beach is a shrine. I come here once a month for [the full moon] Poya Day. It was a Poya Day when the tsunami struck. I would have come here that evening.

We light these oil lamps � just as I am doing this evening. The tsunami strengthened my faith. In the destruction, none of the Buddhist statues here fell.
