The People's Park in St Helier is the best location for a new skate park, according to a Jersey politician.
Deputy Ben Fox's comments follow a demonstration on Sunday against the skate park by a group calling itself the Friends of People's Park.
Spokesperson Dee Shrives says the group is not against skateboarding, but it believes it is not suitable there.
But Deputy Ben Fox says there are not many other areas where young people can skateboard or ride BMX bikes.
