Mass vaccination plan for Jersey

Injection
The swine flu vaccine will be in two doses by injection

Every Jersey resident is to be vaccinated against swine flu in the autumn, the health minister has said.

A vaccine being manufactured to match the new strain of the flu virus should give immunity to most people.

Jersey's Medical Officer of Health, Dr Rosemary Geller, said it appeared the virus had a death rate of about 3% if a patient went untreated.

Health Minister Anne Pryke said the government was taking the threat of a pandemic seriously.

She added it was important to take all necessary preparations and to have maximum protection against the virus.

When the vaccine is available, it will be administered in two doses by injection.
