Hundreds of fosterers are needed for children in the South East

Care workers are appealing for more foster parents across the South East as part of a national campaign.
About 950 children are placed with carers in Kent at any one time, and more than 450 placements were made in East Sussex last year.
Both councils have launched appeals to find more foster families.
Surrey County Council said it needed a further 100 new foster carers next year. The Fostering Network Charity said 10,000 were needed across the UK.

Foster carers do a wonderful job...and we always need more of them

A spokesman for Surrey said it was particularly looking for those able to provide a caring family life for children from black and ethnic minorities.
The authority also wanted to find people who could help children with complex needs, disabilities and also siblings and teenagers.
The council was facing a shortage of foster carers in the west of the county, the spokesman added.
Councillor Peter Lake, Kent County Council's cabinet member for children and family services, said: "Foster carers do a wonderful job in bringing joy and normality back into the lives of children whose families cannot look after them, and we always need more of them."
The national campaign, Foster Care Fortnight, began on Monday.
