The cash is awarded as part of a health department initiative
A health care trust is to receive 100,000 from central government for its emergency care provision.

The money will be divided among the emergency departments of the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the city's children and eye hospitals.

The trust bid for the money as part of a health department initiative to improve emergency care.

It is the third stage of an incentive scheme whereby trusts delivering faster A & E care can apply for extra funds.

Paul Knocker, emergency care programme manager, said: ""We are delighted to have been awarded this bonus.

"It is a reflection of the high priority UBHT has given to reducing the length of time patients wait for emergency treatment.

Health minister Rosie Winterton, added: "I would like to congratulate all the NHS staff at United Bristol Healthcare Trust for seeing and treating more people in A&E within four hours. "
