Volunteers sought for beach clean
Visitor at Kimmeridge Bay
The clean-up at Kimmeridge Bay is expected to last two hours
A call is going out for help at a major litter-picking operation at a seaside wildlife reserve and nearby beaches.

Dorset Wildlife Trust is holding the clean-up on Sunday at its Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve at Kimmeridge Bay and neighbouring Worbarrow Bay.

The reserve and surrounding beaches have become littered with rubbish, left by tourists and washed in by the tide after being thrown from boats.

The trust runs four cleaning days every year, removing several tons of rubbish.

Weighed and bagged

All collected material will be weighed, recorded and bagged and in some cases bar codes used to trace items to their owners.

Volunteers are meeting at lunchtime at the Marine Centre to help clean at Kimmeridge Bay and at Tyneham car park to clean at Worbarrow Bay, with the operation expected to last two hours.

Dorset Wildlife Trust is the largest voluntary nature conservation organisation in Dorset and manages 41 reserves in the county.

The clean-up is part of a nationwide clean up of Britain's coastline.
