Heart survivor's 1,500 thank you
David Campbell
David Campbell said he owed his life to First Responders
A man who was brought back to life by a volunteer trained in resuscitation has raised 1,500 to buy life saving kit.

David Campbell, 57, from Carnforth, Lancashire collapsed with a heart attack two years ago whilst at a local summer fete with his family.

But thanks to the fast actions of the First Responders he was revived and went on to make a full recovery.

Mr Campbell presented the money to Lancashire Ambulance Service's Heart of Lancashire Appeal.

Community First Responders are local people trained in the resuscitation of heart attack victims using defibrillator machines.

Rural cover

They provide 24 hour cover to support Lancashire Ambulance Service, especially in rural areas.

"I owe my life to the Community First Responders," said Mr Campbell.

"If it wasn't for their fast reactions and expertise, valuable minutes could have been lost while we were waiting for the ambulance to arrive."

Mr Campbell raised 750 with several sponsored events with his employers matching the money to enable him to present 1,500 to the appeal.

The money will buy a defibrillator.
