Charlotte Vere says her priorities are the economy and climate change
A charity chief executive has been elected as a Conservative Party candidate for the next general election in a US-style primary vote in Sussex. Charlotte Vere was elected by residents in the Brighton Pavilion constituency during a hustings-style event staged at the Grand Hotel on Wednesday night. Six contenders faced 20 minutes of questioning before a series of elimination votes were held. The Brighton Pavilion seat is currently held by Labour. The vacancy arose after Dr David Bull, a former presenter on the BBC's Newsround programme, stepped down earlier this year.
