An under-fire health board has appointed a controversial newspaper columnist as its new press officer.
NHS Western Isles, which is trying to deal with a 2.5m overspend, has taken on John Macleod of the Daily Mail.
He was sacked by the Herald after he wrote Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman would not have died at Soham had their parents "kept the Lord's day".
Mr Macleod, 40, said the board had been the victim of some very unfair and careless attacks.
NHS Western Isles said it was extremely fortunate to have secured his services.
