Plans to expand town go on show
Nairn
Nairn is expected to grow over a number of years
A public exhibition has opened on the proposed expansion of Nairn, near Inverness.

The plans include the building of up to 5,000 houses as well as a by-pass.

Planning officials will also be attending the exhibition in Nairn Community Centre, King Street, from midday to 2100 BST on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Moray Estates will display its plans for a new village near Croy at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, from 1900 BST, also on Thursday.

The exhibition is part of Highland Council's wider master plan on how the A96 corridor, from the Raigmore Interchange at Inverness east to Auldearn, may develop.

Nairn has been subject to a number of plans, including a proposal for new housing, retail park and golf course to help the town regain its former title as the Brighton of the North.
