Swansea City's impressive start to the Championship season continued as a 3-1 victory over Burnley sent the Clarets to the bottom of the table.

Swansea climb back to second - behind leaders West Ham on goal difference - after two glaring Burnley errors allowed Adam Idah and Moussa Yeo goals to put Vitor Matos' side in control before half-time.

Largie Ramazani's neat finish brought the Clarets back into the contest after the break, only for substitute Zan Vipotnik to seal Swansea's victory as he guided home from Ronald's pass.

Defeat means Burnley remain winless in the league following their relegation from the top flight last season, while they have failed to take a point from four second-tier games on the road this season.

Idah struck when he pursued Lawrence Vigouroux's quick clearance, with the hard-running striker rewarded for his endeavour after Max Weiss' clumsy touch allowed him to take possession and sweep into an empty net.

Swansea's second goal came from another counter, with Ugo Raghouber paying a heavy price when his blind pass was picked off by Elijah Just.

This time there was work for the Swans to do, with Just feeding Yeo inside his own half before the winger galloped to the edge of the Burnley box and rattled the ball low into the bottom corner.

Swansea might have had a third before the break when Idah's shot deflected on to the post, but that would have been tough on a Burnley side who had clear opportunities of their own.

Zeki Amdouni and Oliver Sonne both shot off target when through on goal, while Aaron Ramsey's long-ranger came back off the bar thanks to a brilliant Vigouroux save.

To their credit, Burnley came again after the break, giving themselves hope when Ramazani broke the offside trap before guiding the ball inside Vigouroux's near post.

New signing Jamie Vardy arrived from the bench as Nicky Hayen sniffed a chance of an equaliser, yet it was Swansea who swiftly struck again.

Another substitute, Ronald, raced through a gap in Burnley's leaky defence before unselfishly squaring for Vipotnik to score his first open-play goal of the season.

Vardy had the ball in the net late on but was denied by the offside flag, while Vigouroux saved from Armando Broja as Swansea held on for a fourth league victory of the campaign.

Having finished second-bottom of the Premier League in May, Burnley were tipped by many to contend for an immediate return to the top flight this season.

They have not looked like promotion contenders during a painful start to the new campaign, and ultimately this was another miserable day for a club who are now without a win in 19 league games stretching back to February.

Burnley competed for long spells – and had plenty of sights of goal – but their desperate defending wiped out any hope of a positive result.

While Hayen's side are in the doldrums, spirits are high for Swansea after they produced the ideal response to their first defeat of the season, which came at Southampton in midweek.

These are early days, of course, but Matos' team are showing plenty of promise.

"I think it was quite complete in different phases of the game. With the ball we had really good moments that gave us the initiative and the control and the right positions to push Burnley back.

"We knew Burnley are a good team attacking. They have really technical players and the right speed to find the pockets.

"We were able to control that for moments so I think it was a good game.

"It was important to see players from the bench impact the game. That's what happened when we got the third goal and then we were back in control."

Burnley head coach Nicky Hayen:

"Swansea won the game today but we lost it in the first half. We started actually quite well, we created as many opportunities as Swansea in the first half, but we made two individual mistakes and we are 2-0 down.

"They managed the boxes better than we are doing at the moment. Second half we said we cannot change the mistakes, we came out with a fresh energy.

"We tried to find that goal that would maybe change their mood, but then they scored the third goal and it's difficult.

"Their accuracy on the ball was much higher than ours, this for me was the biggest difference today for me."
