Crystal Palace booked their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup with a convincing 3-0 win over Championship side Middlesbrough at Selhurst Park.

Jorgen Strand Larsen scored headers in each half before substitute Daichi Kamada added a sublime third as Palace eased through.

As part of eight changes made by Palace head coach Pierre Sage from their 3-2 win at Fulham on Saturday, summer signings Oscar Mingueza, Honest Ahanor and Dario Osorio were all handed first starts.

And it was wing-back Mingueza whose left-footed cross from the right side found unmarked Norway striker Strand Larsen in the first half. He made no mistake in heading past Sol Brynn from close range to open the scoring.

Having scored the winner for the Eagles from the bench at Craven Cottage three days ago, left-back Ben Chilwell turned from scorer into provider in the second half. His cross from the left was turned in by Strand Larsen eight minutes after the restart to double their advantage.

Substitute Kamada added a third shortly after coming on, expertly chipping the ball over a rooted Brynn from outside of the penalty area.

Boro's head coach Kim Hellberg also made eight changes to his side from their 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers.

Will Lankshear, one of the Championship's joint-top scorers, was among those who started the game on the bench before being introduced in the second half.

Boro did little to test a Palace side who have conceded two or more goals in each of their last nine Premier League matches.

Winger Amario Cozier-Duberry, making his Boro debut since signing on loan from Brighton, had their best chance 15 minutes from time. His driven effort from the right wing was denied by Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez.
