Stephen Humphrys made one goal and scored another as Bradford City came from behind to see off Leyton Orient and move into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The Bantams trailed in the all League One tie when Macaulay Gillesphey scored a comical own goal seven minutes before the break.

But Humphrys played in Will Swan who levelled with a fine flicked finish seconds before the game entered first-half stoppage time.

The impressive Humphrys then put the visitors ahead in the second half when he dived to head home Kayden Jackson's teasing cross from the right.

Substitute Nick Powell wrapped up the win with two minutes remaining with a controlled volley into the bottom corner.

Powell could easily have ended up with four goals despite only coming off the bench just after the hour as Bradford dominated the final third of the match to secure a deserved win.

Before then, there had been nothing to separate two sides who made a combined total of 17 changes from their previous league fixtures - 10 of which were for the Bantams.

The highlight of an opening 45 minutes lacking in much goalmouth action was undoubtedly Gillesphey's own goal, the defender taking a wild swing to try to clear a cross, only to completely miss the ball and watch in horror as it hit his standing leg and went in at the near post.

But Humphrys then took centre stage, teeing up Swan with a delightful turn and pass and, after Idris El Mizouni hit the bar with a sweet long-range strike for Orient, scoring with a delightful low header.

Powell soon replaced Humphrys and was just as influential as Bradford seized control.

The 32-year-old hit the post with a close-range header and was twice denied by Orient keeper Noah Phillips before notching his side's third goal to complete the scoring late on.

Leyton Orient head coach Richie Wellens told BBC London:

"For 60 minutes I thought we were good. We were the better team and should have been in front. Their second goal came out of the blue. And then we lost our way for a bit.

"Sometimes it was very good, sometimes it was disjointed. We had a few people having to play of position but that was enforced.

"We threw a team together tonight with a few players playing out of position. But we needed to protect some players."

Bradford City boss Graham Alexander told BBC Radio Leeds:

"It was a real high-tempo game, competed at a great level. It was a good test and was excellent to see.

"It was harsh on us going 1-0 down but the response was good. Scoring just before half-time was really important for us.

"In the second half we were excellent. We kept them at arm's length, created some really good chances and were really incisive. I'm so pleased for the squad. It's a perfect night for me as a manager."
