Radcliffe added the 10km world record to her haul in 2003 and improved her London Marathon world record.

She suffered anguish at the Olympic Games in Athens the following year when forced to quit the marathon in intense heat, and later failing to complete the 10,000m.

Radcliffe regrouped and claimed world marathon gold in 2005.
