Lewis knew he would have to face former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

But plans for the two to meet were temporarily scuppered when he lost to Hasim Rahman in early 2001.

After winning the rematch later in the year, Lewis finally fought and beat Tyson in 2002 to establish himself as a true boxing great.

He retired in 2004.
