Socialist Labour in Euro campaign

Louise McDaid wants the UK out of the European Union

The Socialist Labour Party's European Election campaign is underway in Scotland, with a call for the UK to pull out of the European Union.

The party, which is asking the public to "vote us in to get us out", said withdrawing from the EU would halt the trend of privatisation.

Millions of voters across 27 countries will go to the polls to elect 736 MEPs between 4 June and 7 June.

Scotland will return six MEPs, one less than in the last European Parliament.

SLP lead candidate Louise McDaid said it was time to take action to stop the privatisation of organisations such as Royal Mail.

"The Socialist Labour party believes that we, as a country should completely withdraw from the European Union," she said.

"We are a socialist party - the European Union is a capitalist club that we spend £40m a day being a member of, a club that continues the policies of privatisation - and there is far more privatisation on the cards."
