The Jury Team says the current system is destroying democracy

A coalition promising to "clean up democracy" has been campaigning in Scotland ahead of the Euro elections. The Jury Team, a collection of independent candidates, has issued a call for "open democracy" and wants to make politicians more accountable. Millions of voters across 27 countries will go to the polls to elect 736 MEPs between 4 June and 7 June. Scotland will return six MEPs in the election, one fewer than in the last European Parliament. Jury Team candidate Allan Wallace said he wanted to see an end to the party whip, which he said was "destroying" democracy. He said: "It's about open democracy. The fundamental thing is open democracy. "We're against sleaze, we're against corruption. "We just want everything transparent and everything up front."
