Britain's oldest surving veteran, Henry Allingham, 108, proudly displayed the new Veteran's Badge he was presented by veterans minister Ivor Caplin.

Mr Allingham served at the Somme, Battle of Jutland the third battle of Ypres.

He said: "It brought back a lot of things that I have tried to forget. I've got a lot to be thankful for."
