Rats and lice

Fred Lloyd, 106, lost two of his brothers during 1914 and 1918.

He joined the war in France in 1917.

Mr Lloyd added: "In 1916, my brothers said you can't come this year because you are too young, you'll have to come back next year.

"The things I remember the most were the rats and the lice. The only light we had were oil lamps."
