Infant mortality
Unicef says that one billion children are denied the basic services required to survive, grow and develop. They fall prey to poverty, war and disease; particularly HIV/Aids. In parts of sub-Saharan Africa child mortality rates are on the rise because of Aids. In some countries almost a third of children will die before their fifth birthday.
