Calls for disabled consultation
Wheelchair user
People want to be consulted about access to new buildings
Calls have been made for more to be done to improve access to facilities for the disabled in Guernsey.

Wheelchair user Phil Jones said he believed access in St Peter Port was at an all-time low.

He said he would like to see more States support and better legislation to deal with the problem.

The chairwoman of mobility pressure group RAMP, Jackie Tebbutt, said she agreed with what he said and there had been a lack of consultation.

She said: "This has been a big problem in Guernsey for years and it's now coming to a head.

"We hope that with new members in the States, people will come to us to speak to us.

"We are never consulted. People who are disabled and people who work with people with disabilities are not consulted at all about access to new buildings, etc."
