Flowers fair switch causes anger
Battle of Flowers competition
The Association wants to switch the funfair to the People's Park
People living near a Jersey park are angry about plans to hold the Battle of Flowers funfair there.

The Battle of Flowers Association wants to move this year's fair from the Lower Park to the People's Park.

Town Constable Simon Crowcroft has called a parish meeting to discuss the Association's proposals.

Peter Robbins, who lives near the park, said the 16-day fair in August would be the last straw for people who already had to put up with anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood.

"There are a lot of angry residents that live around here.

"The People's Park is a gathering place 52 weeks of the year and we get a lot of aggravation, be it with teenagers, drunks, etc. You name it and we get it."

A Battle of Flowers spokesman said there would be no comment about why the Association wanted to move the fair until after the meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday.
