Thieves target hot homes for cars
Police in Leicester are investigating a spate of burglaries during the warm weather, in two cases cars were stolen.

The first instance was on Marsden lane in the city on Tuesday, when a black coloured Renault Clio was taken.

A Mercedes was driven away from a house on Link Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Officers said the recent hot weather has triggered a rise in burglaries because people leave windows and doors open as they try to keep cool.

Hot weather

Pc Steve Wilson from Operation Capture, the city's burglary team appealed for help from anglers for information on the first burglary.

He said: "The house is quite near a footpath that leads through to the canal, and I would appeal to anyone who was around in the early morning, in particular anglers, to think back."

The second car has since been recovered following the burglary.

"There have been a number of burglaries in the past week in the area. It is a sad fact that with the hot weather comes there is an increase in burglaries.

"I would like to remind everyone to not leave windows open and doors open and unlocked." he added.
