Floating hotel plan is approved

Plans for a 54-bedroom hotel at a Teesside marina which would create 25 jobs have been approved.

Premier Inn wants to extend its existing hotel on to the water at Hartlepool Marina, complete with leisure facilities and a restaurant.

It is hoped the hotel will be completed and open for business by early 2010 in time for the Tall Ships Race in August.

Hartlepool Council granted the 3m scheme planning permission at a meeting on Wednesday.
