A new school should be built by early 2011

Scottish Borders Council has completed the acquisition of the land needed for a new primary school in the region.

The move will allow its plans to build a replacement for Caddonfoot Primary, in Clovenfords, to progress.

Clovenfords-based councillor, Gavin Logan, said: "I am delighted with this news and am sure that parents will be very pleased".

It is hoped that work on the new school will begin in 2010 with the building opened to pupils by spring 2011.

Executive member for education, Cllr Catriona Bhatia, said: "This has taken a long time to resolve, but I am delighted that we can demonstrate the progress made and give a timescale for delivery of the new school."
