A German court hears fresh evidence that Abdelghani Mzoudi, the Moroccan man charged with assisting the 9/11 hijackers, sent coded information to middlemen. The information comes from someone claiming to be a former Iranian agent, whose identity is being kept secret.

It arrives just as the trial is due to end, delaying the verdict. Mr Mzoudi faces charges of being an accessory to murder and part of a terrorist group.

The US commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan says he expects to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice by the end of the year.

Lieutenant-General David Barno said dealing with Bin Laden and ex-Taleban leader Mullah Omar was a top priority.

"The sands in the hourglass of all of the al-Qaeda senior leadership is running out," he said.
