Sunburn warning for Battle
Battle of Flowers competition
Flowers have been kept in refrigerators to prevent wilting in the heat
People watching the Battle of Flowers parade are being urged to take care in the sun.

St John Ambulance volunteers will be in the arena from 1000 with a team of doctors and nurses to help anyone who may need medical help.

Motorists are also being asked to be patient as floats taking part in the parade are moved onto the arena on Thursday morning.

About 30 floats from 10 of the 12 parishes are competing.

Islanders can expect delays on the main routes into town between 0500 and 0900.

The worst-affected areas will be from Hautes Croix to Queen's Road, Longueville, Bel Royal, Beaumont Hill and St Peter's Valley.

Victoria Avenue will close to traffic at 0930 in preparation for the judging of the floats and the parade.

Floats have keep kept in industrial coolers to keep flowers fresh as the heatwave is making flowers wilt.
