School shut by swine flu reopens

The school in St Helier was temporarily closed as a precaution

A Jersey school which was temporarily closed after a pupil contracted swine flu is to reopen.

Helvetia House School, an independent junior school in St Helier, was closed as a precaution on Thursday afternoon.

The students have been treated with anti-viral drugs and officials say it is safe for them to return to school so long as they do not have flu symptoms.

The school is set to reopen on Tuesday. Three cases of swine flu have so far been confirmed on the island.

On Friday the States revealed that a student who attends Les Quennevais School in St Brelade was tested for the virus after coming into contact with a confirmed case.

The results of the test are yet to be announced.
