Carlisle eased some of the pressure on manager Rob Elliot with a 2-0 victory at Fylde.

Elliot came under fire from supporters following the 5-2 home defeat by Woking on Saturday, which made it five games without a win.

But Jack Ellis' first half strike, after capitalising on an error from Danny Mayor, and Regan Linney's scrambled effort 11 minutes from time ensured a perfect response as they halted their winless run on their travels.

Luca Thomas, who had six goals in six games, had gone close to giving Fylde the lead but was denied by a fine save from Cumbrians goalkeeper Adam Desbois.
