Bailey Hobson scored the only goal as Harrogate won 1-0 at Hartlepool to climb up to second in the National League table.

Hobson struck his fourth goal in five matches early in the second half to secure Harrogate back-to-back league wins, while Hartlepool slipped to a fifth straight league loss and their 10th defeat of the season in all competitions.

Pools were first to threaten when Charlie Thornton forced Harrogate goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson into the game's first save, while the visitors responded through Brad Dolaghan, who was thwarted by home goalkeeper Max Thompson in a goalless first half.

Harrogate broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second period, winning the ball deep in Pool's half for Will McGowan to tee up Hobson for a simple finish.
