The King Alfred leisure centre, originally Hove Marina, was built in the 1930s and spent the war as a naval training centre.

It was updated in the 1970s, but is now dilapidated, expensive to maintain and in need of complete refurbishment.

The entire site, including car park and children's playground, covers 4.2 acres.
