Fire reaches home after spreading through vehicles

Firefighters have put out a fire that spread through several vehicles before reaching a home on the Isle of Wight.

Crews from across the island were sent to the fire after it broke out at about 03:00 BST on Kingston Road, East Cowes.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service advised residents to keep doors and windows closed due to the amount of smoke lingering in the area.

The fire service said firefighters had dampened down hotspots and checked over the home affected. It said the fire is believed to have been caused by an engine fault in one of the vehicles.
