A man who died in a house explosion has been named, while officers investigating his death say they believe there is "no evidence of a crime".

Rory Costello, 60, also known as Rory Conway, died in the explosion in Rotherham on Tuesday, according to South Yorkshire Police.

In a statement, the force said investigations into the cause of the blast were ongoing but "no evidence" of any wrongdoing had been uncovered.

On Wednesday police said they believed the fatal explosion had been caused by a "household accident".

Emergency services were called to Clifton Mount in Rotherham at 13:18 BST on Tuesday.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire engines from Rotherham and Tankersley fire stations to the scene.

Gas distributor Cadent Gas said it conducted a full investigation and confirmed the incident was "not an issue related to our gas network".

Police said Costello's family had been informed and were being supported by officers.
