Islanders are being polled on their level of interest in a regular vehicle ferry service to run between Jersey and Guernsey.

Islands Unlimited began its foot passenger sailings between the islands in 2025.

There is currently only one sailing for cars a week between the islands - on a Wednesday - and run by Brittany Ferries.

Islands Unlimited said it was currently just an "idea", while nothing had yet been decided on whether a car service would come to fruition.

In an email to customers, Islands Unlimited said it was "looking at" whether to run a vehicle ferry "three to four days a week".

It added: "Before going any further we want to understand whether islanders would actually use it, how often, and what would make it worthwhile."

The online poll asks residents if they would welcome a more regular service, whether their preference would be for it to operate seasonally and how frequently they might use it, and for what purpose.

They are also being canvassed on cost, with options ranging from £60 to £140 for a car and one passenger.

The firm took the "difficult decision" in September to end its foot sailings early after problems with its only ship's starboard main engine.

The daily service between Guernsey and Jersey, with weekend sailings to Alderney, had been due to run until Sunday 18 October.

Islands Unlimited has been contacted for comment.
