Morning rush-hour commuters have faced further disruption on Thursday as one lane on part of the M2 remains closed following a fatal car crash on Tuesday evening.

The coastbound section of the road between Chatham and Sittingbourne remained closed while clear-up works continued following the incident at about 21:00 GMT on 27 October, but one lane has since reopened.

Kent Police is continuing to appeal for information after a man in his 50s died after he was struck by several vehicles near Medway Services.

The London-bound carriageway of the motorway, which was previously closed in the same place, reopened on Wednesday afternoon.

A National Highways spokesperson said on social media that while one lane has now reopened, the second lane would remain closed on Thursday.

Earlier delays on approach to the junctions had since cleared, it said.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the crash, including anyone with dashcam footage.

The man's next of kin has been informed, Kent Police added.
