Rescue team release deer trapped in wire fencing

A deer that had become trapped in wire fencing in the New Forest was released by a rescue team

A rescue team released a deer that had become trapped in wire fencing.

Hampshire-based charity Wildlife Rescue Moyles Court said it received an emergency call from Hale in the New Forest reporting a fallow buck with antlers thrashing around, with nobody able to get close enough to free him.

A rescue team was met by the "concerned and compassionate" landowners, who accompanied them through their woodland to the deer who was "frantically jumping around dragging the fencing back and forth", said the charity.

A combined effort involving specialist cutters to remove the "extensive" wire began, resulting in the deer being released and running off "unharmed" into the woods.
