Designs for new River Deveron crossing to be showcased

Detailed designs for a proposed new active travel bridge across the River Deveron in Aberdeenshire are to be revealed to local residents next month.

The proposed structure would be built between Banff and Macduff just downstream from the historic A-listed Banff Bridge.

Aberdeenshire Council said it expected the new route would encourage walking, wheeling and cycling in the area.

The plans are to be shown at public drop-in sessions at Banff Castle on 9 and 10 October.

The council said the design had been developed following consultation and engagement with the local community.

The project is being supported by regional transport partnership Nestrans and Transport Scotland.

During the drop-in sessions the community will also have a chance to find out more about other proposed active travel routes for the area.
