Library visited 100,000 times after summer move
Reading Borough CouncilA town's central library has been visited 100,000 times since it moved to a new base in the summer, a council said.
Reading Central Library opened at the town's Civic Centre in Bridge Street in June following a move from its former spot in Kings Road after 41 years.
Reading Borough Council said 2,700 new members have joined since and that about 42,000 books have been borrowed.
Its lead councillor for leisure and culture, Jacopo Lanzoni, said it was "fantastic" that so many people have visited over the last four months.
"The large and colourful children's area has been very popular with families and it is wonderful that so many young people are experiencing the joy of books and visiting the library," he added.
The former central library closed for the last time in May.
