Who are the candidates in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election?

The candidates have been announced who will stand in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, which is set to take place on 8 October.

The seat became vacant after former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer announced he was standing down to focus on a role in international affairs.

Here are the people who have announced they are standing to become the area's next MP, listed in alphabetical order.

Nominations closed on Tuesday 15 September at 16:00 BST. Camden Council has since published its full list of named candidates.

Some candidates formally confirmed by the council have not yet released biographical details or campaign platforms. This article will be updated as further information and official statements become available.

Camden Council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali is standing for the Labour Party.

She has led the local authority since May, having been a councillor for Camden Square since 2022.

Barmy Brunch, a "clown" standing as an MP in a baked bean mask, is the Official Monster Raving Loony Party candidate.

Conservative member Ewan Cameron is standing for the Conservatives.

Cameron was a councillor on Camden Council from 1998 to 2002. During that time, he was vice-chair for licensing and a lead member on the development control committee.

Tories pick ex-councillor to contest Starmer's former seat

Tom Darwood is a former carpenter who said his family fled from Communist-controlled China in 1954.

The Climate Party has selected Clare Fischer to stand in the October by-election.

Fischer trained as an actress before changing careers to run a music venue in Highgate for the past 20 years.

She first became involved with the party in recent weeks, but has long-held concerns over climate change.

George Galloway, leader of the Workers Party of Britain, will contest the seat for the party.

Galloway has been leader of the Workers Party since he founded it in 2019, and is a former leader of the Respect Party.

He has served as a Member of Parliament seven times for five different constituencies.

Tyler Johnson has been selected as the Restore Britain candidate.

He is a corporate lawyer based in London.

Briony Kapoor will stand as a candidate for the Rejoin EU Party in the by-election.

Kapoor previously served two terms as an independent town councillor in Folkestone and Hythe.

Pete Newman will stand as the candidate for Reform UK in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election on 8 October.

He served with the Metropolitan Police between 2004 and 2009 as a senior detective, working on crime reduction and counter-terrorism across London.

Ketankumar Pipaliya has run in several parliamentary constituencies for the UK VOICE party. He has been described as a pharmaceuticals entrepreneur.

Zack Polanski has been leader of the Green Party of England and Wales since September 2025 and a member of the London Assembly since May 2021.

He was the deputy leader of the Greens from 2022 to 2025.

Jonathan Silberman has previously announced runs for mayor of London and contested parliamentary elections for the Communist League.

The Christian Peoples Alliance has selected Helen Spiby-Vann to stand as its candidate.

Spiby-Vann is a self-employed graphic designer who lives in Finsbury Park.

Patrick Stillman, Lib Dem councillor for West Hampstead, is standing for the Liberal Democrats.

Stillman is also the outgoing chairman of Camden Liberal Democrats.

Ben Walker is national party chairman of UKIP. The party's website says he is a Navy veteran and former county councillor, local authority vice chair and town mayor.
