People invited to partake in architect exhibition

Artists are being invited to submit work for an open exhibition which aims to showcase Jersey's built and natural environment's "identity and character".

The Association of Jersey Architects said it was organising an exhibition, A Sense of Place, at the Capital House, St Helier, as part of Architecture Week 2026.

It said the exhibition would welcome a wide range of work, including architectural models, drawings, sketches, photography, mixed-media images and collages of the islands architecture.

Submissions must be received by 11 September, with the exhibition set to run from 30 September to 5 October, the association added.

The association said the architecture week was an opportunity to bring architectural ideas into a wider public conversation about the island, "the places we value, the qualities we risk losing and the environments we want to create for the future".

It also said inspiration was not limited to landmark buildings.

"It might be found in the corner of a restaurant, a room, a shaded courtyard, a new piece of street or a subtle addition to the background of everyday life."

It said it could be "a physical quality defined by architecture and landscape, or simply a feeling created by our surroundings".

The association said it encouraged entrants to explore what the idea meant in the context of Jersey today.

It said it hoped the exhibition would "bring together different perspectives on the island and consider how individual spaces, buildings and experiences contribute to something greater".

All eligible entries would be exhibited and considered for prizes and commendations.
