Teenager sought after boy, 13, stabbed

Police have appealed for help tracing a teenager after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed in Leeds.

Officers were called to Roundhay Road just after 18:00 BST on Bank Holiday Monday, following reports a boy had been attacked. He was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening wound to his abdomen, West Yorkshire Police said.

A male, about 15 to 16 years old, who was wearing a balaclava and who was with two girls, was being sought by officers in connection with the incident, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

Appealing for witnesses, Det Ch Insp Scott Hartley said: "Although this was a serious incident, our inquiries so far suggest it was an isolated and targeted act."

Hartley said: "We have extensive inquiries ongoing, including house-to-house inquiries and reviewing CCTV.

"We are conscious, though, that this offence has occurred near to the Leeds West Indian Carnival and there will have been a large number of people in the vicinity who may not necessarily be from the Chapeltown area.

"The Leeds West Indian Carnival attracted thousands of people who attended safely and enjoyed the event without incident.

"We remain focused on identifying those responsible and providing reassurance to the community."
